Rousseau Elementary School
Rousseau Elementary School in Lincoln, Nebraska was originally constructed in 1964 with subsequent additions in 1969 and 1996. SSH Architecture sought to update and increase indoor air quality and improve safety of the students throughout the phasing of the project.
The SSH team’s design includes renovating the entire school to provide a new energy efficient geo-thermal heat pump system to heat and cool the facility. Open classrooms divided by moveable partitions, were renovated to provide new, enclosed classrooms. The electrical and lighting systems were upgraded to increase energy efficient and meet the current codes to enhance the education environment. The main entry and main office received minor renovations to provide a secure entry and improve circulation and functionality in the office.
